Safeguarding Policy – Ruislip Snorkelling Club
The Ruislip Snorkelling Club is committed to a Club environment in which all children participating in its activities have a safe and positive experience. We adopt and implement the BSAC Safeguarding Policy bsac-child-safeguarding-policy-v8-3-february-2023 (2).pdf
To ensure sound Safeguarding practice in line with the BSAC Safeguarding Policy bsac-child-safeguarding-policy-v8-3-february-2023 (2).pdf the Ruislip Snorkelling Club ensures the following requirements are in place:
1. Recognition that all children participating in the Ruislip Snorkelling Club (regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability) have a right to enjoy their involvement in snorkelling in a safe environment and be protected from harm.
2. Ensure that those individuals, who interact with children in the Ruislip Snorkelling Club, provide a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience for children. BSAC Officers, instructors, adult members and parents/carers are made aware of their duty of care to safeguard children in the Club.
3. Have a named Club Welfare Officer with the necessary skills and training as outlined by BSAC, who will take the lead in dealing with all safeguarding matters raised within the Club, encouraging and assisting the Club to implement best practice in line with the BSAC policy.
4. Ensure that all Club members and parents of junior members know the Club Welfare Officer’s name and contact details. The Club Welfare Officer will be available to discuss issues of concern on matters of safeguarding and deal with such concerns appropriately and in line with the BSAC Safeguarding Policy.
5. Ensure all those persons who work with children in the Ruislip Snorkelling Club have undertaken the appropriate training and have the relevant level of current DBS check, cleared by BSAC. They will adhere to the required practices for safeguarding children as outlined in the BSAC Safeguarding Policy.
Ensure that all individuals who will be working or will work with children in the Club have been recruited in accordance with the BSAC Safe Recruitment Policy.
6. Raise awareness among members of the BSAC Safeguarding policies available via the Club and/or BSAC website.
7. Provide all Club members and parents of members with the opportunity to raise concerns in a safe and confidential manner if they have a concern about a child’s welfare. Ensure the procedure for reporting concerns, within or external to the Club is clearly communicated.
8. Ensure that all child-safeguarding matters, whether concerning child welfare or protection, are dealt with appropriately in accordance with the guidance for reporting and action in the BSAC Safeguarding Policy. This will include timely management, respect for confidentiality, documentation of concerns, offer of support and, where appropriate, involvement of the BSAC Lead Officer in Child Safeguarding and statutory agencies.
9. Adopt the Buddy Guard Whistle Blowing Policy.
10. Have an Equal Opportunities Policy.
